8th Stage - Final Stage
Madonna DC Riva
Before we begin the daily routine: We are still not aware what was going on since a few hours. We actually have the final stage in 22nd place finished. Simply amazing! But first things first ...
Today it happened: The last day the last stage, the last time to get up at 6 am and directly to the jersey. The last time to pack the Transalp bag, the last time portioning gels and bars, the last time to touch drinks, the last time use 3-layer lubrication (horse balm, Sixtus Active cream, Sixtus start oil), the last time in the stress time for the start of come, the last time for the bike this week. But first we must
again lose a word about our hotel: We have never slept so well, the beds were a dream. The modern ambience with a dive into another world - when we went to breakfast the open plan, modern wood dealer, entered the dining room, we could not believe our eyes. The huge range of food, salmon, cheese and ham leckerstem 5 different cakes and pastries to cereal varieties, which we were previously unknown. Although we are finally starting block B were at our place overall 95 after stage 7, we have decided during breakfast that we do without a good starting position and would rather enjoy the breakfast in full. So we have only been 30 minutes before the start of the grid, but war das nebensächlich.
The atmosphere is great before the last stage |
After the exit, it went straight into the first and longest rise, the legs were in the initial heavy as lead, since really the 12km downhill at 18 ° C all cooled. But we have to fast forward the murnau team (which we still want to make a separate report) and have attached their frenzied pace to keep trying. In principle, we used the same tactics as yesterday: From the beginning, full throttle, all on one card.
The legs were there quickly agreed to the pressure on the pedal. The boys got dressed up just before the summit, that pace was really great. Just before we reached the summit Norgaard-Sisters (leading women's team) and had already a great position before departure. It was followed by a flat connector on the street and a few waves that repeatedly blew up our group of 15 people. Shortly before Riva rose a bad increase, which was half impassable. That is, run, run, run. Completely finished at the top end of the group arrived, we tried to establish the descent to Lake Garda to go with the pace. The trail was amazing, full stop at the most violent paragraphs, rocks and stones deal with the hardtail - typical of the lake. The bike held out but, except for the chain which the crank jumped in, and firmly clamped. Short stop, completely panicked again addressed the chain and down we went. But we had fewer problems as the others in this group and could play to our driving technique. Below, we suddenly had arrived alone. Alone in front of Riva, alone in front of this group. Now there were only 5km from the finish, on the streets of Riva, which were not locked. Completely at the stop we caught even two other teams before us and have the final sprint will actually reach 22nd When you see our preparation and prior history of the Transalp, we can be incredibly happy. And that's what we are now and enjoy the weekend at Lake Garda! We have increased each stage, von Platz 164 auf Etappe 1 bis zum Platz 22 auf Etappe 8. Einfach genial!
